Well-known manufacturers and service companies of wind turbines work with our torque wrenches daily. The usage of these tools starts at manufacturing/assembly of individual components and ends up with construction work of the tower and further with the maintenance.
Electric or hydraulic torque wrenches?
For the wind industry we recommend our electric bolting tools. These tools are safe, have a high degree of precision and work 60% faster than hydraulic torque wrenches. For many manufacturers and service companies are accuracy and speed the most important demands of the bolting tool. The low weight of the electric tool is another advantage. To carry and transport the pump of the hydraulic bolting tool complicates the work at the construction of a wind tower. Electric torque wrenches have long been state of the art. They are the future of bolting tools. Rarely, bolts are placed very hard to reach, so that hydraulic bolting tools continue to be indispensable. At extremely limited space our hydraulic low profile torque wrench often is the best choice.
Detailed documentation of the bolting work ensures safety and quality! The E-RAD records every single bolting process and saves it with the current time and respective worker-ID, which was determined before. All results can be transfered to a computer via bluetooth and read out on the computer.
Which tool can be used for safe maintenance?
Due to environmental influences and mechanical loads bolting connections are changing. Bolts come loose and the safety of the wind turbine is no longer ensured. Therefore bolted connections have to be checked and maintained in a defined time period. For this application our electric torque wrench series MV-RAD (MED) is perfectly suitable.
Unlike with conventional electric torque wrenches, the MV-RAD (MED) measures the torque applied at the bolt without changing the bolted connection. Many electric torque wrenches rotate so far till the resistance of the tight bolt is measureable. Due to a torsion in the gearbox the bolt will be tightened further, immediately. The results of the measurements will be falsified. This is why we have developed and designed our MV-RAD (MED) to measure the troque at the bolting connection right during power build-up.
